![]() final Fantasy The 3rd Birthday, Parasite Eve II, parasite Eve, aya Brea. Ayas PE meter is filled by not using it during battle. When she does, the cost of the spell is subtracted and then the meter starts filling itself again. Obviously, they don’t want to cannibalize their own product, though it is a bit sad to see the physical version sacrificed in favor of the digital version. Oh well.Trading card games, for me, are something that just have to be physical. Only recommended if you care more about the play than the plot.Įdit: I reconsidered and added a spoiler tag above, but now I can't get the text to show. It was fun to play, but I consider it the opposite of PE2 PE2 has less-than-stellar controls and a great story, whereas T3B has awesome controls and gameplay, but butchers the story. There's a third game, as well- The 3rd Birthday, originally for PSP (though you can download it on PS3 if you have one). I actually like it more, personally, and have played it many times. But it's a fantastic followup as far as story goes. Battles are laid out differently, and controls are a little different. PE is more of a turn-based RPG, while PE2 is more of an action-adventure game. I recommend playing Parasite Eve 2 as well, but be warned-it's a different style of play. (I don't know where you are in the game, but I don't think just mentioning such a character counts as much of a spoiler I won't describe where it is or how it comes up in the plot.) It's been a long time since I played-probably fifteen years or more-but I seem to remember resource management being a pain, though not as much as Resident Evil. That Spoiler, especially, can kiss my ass. Regular combat isn't hard the bosses cleaned my clock numerous times, though. If you called the protagonist "Sarah" and changed the name to "Desert Evil", no one would have noticed. The villains are basically Umbrella Corp, and have no real connection to the first game, either. Aya has forgotten how to use the powers she gained in PE1, and also left her Geneva-Convention-incinerating super-weapons behind, so we don't get much resolution on that front either. She left all her supporting cast behind, so we don't get to see how they're doing (but for some reason, there's a direct analog for almost every PE1 character in PE2-right down to the gruff, older black partner). Aya has left New York for the Mojave desert, so we don't see what New York looks like post-PE1. The government has classified and covered-up everything that happened in the first game, so the world has not changed in any meaningful way due to what happened in PE1. The gameplay really isn't worth your time, but the worst part is the narrative. There's a fairly good review of the trilogy here (timestamp will skip PE1, and go directly to a PE2 rundown with very minor spoilers). Track down an LP, if you are morbidly curious. It is an objectively bad game, though, and probably not worth your time. I enjoyed it so much that I tracked down a copy of the original (far better) first game. I had fun with it, but it was the first survival horror game I'd ever played. ![]() Its resident evil with some rpg mechanics thrown in. Sure it isn't PE1 but its still an interesting game that's worth playing. But I replayed it a few years ago and found myself really enjoying it. I missed everything about the first game. Just a dumb mechanic.Īs for Parasite Eve 2. Not only were you wasting bullets, dealing less damage per shot, you were also standing there unable to dodge. Guns with high rate of fire (like machine guns) divided the damage. It was better to have a gun with low rate of fire (single shot). If I did have to complain about the game it was the way rate of fire worked. My brother bought me the book that the game was based on (I haven't read it yet unfortunately) I learned a lot about mitochondria before school ever taught it. I love the fact that it takes place in New York City. The opening opera scene was really tense.
